Essex Golf and Country Clubhouse

Cell Phone Policy

Specific rules concerning the use of cell phone and other electronic devices both on the golf course and in the clubhouse exist in order that their use will not interfere with the enjoyment of the Club and its premises by other members and their guests nor affect the pace of play while on the golf course. It is the responsibility of members to ensure that their guests are aware of these rules.
Generally, conversations and ringing or other sounds from a Cell Phone and other electronic devices are considered most disruptive and are to be restricted as follows:
  1. While at Essex, all Cell Phones and other Electronic Devices must be kept in the silent mode at all times.
  2. Conversation on Cell Phones is not permitted anywhere at Essex except in the Locker Rooms and Parking Lot.
  3. Text Messaging is permitted on the golf course and in the clubhouse. Medical Doctors may use Cell Phones and other Electronic Devices at any time where a medical emergency is involved.
An exception to these rules will also be made for groups who formally book specific rooms in the clubhouse through the Club’s catering office. Use of Cell Phones and other Electronic Devices confined to the specific rooms booked will be permitted.
Essex Golf & Country Club recognizes that technology is constantly evolving and appeals to its members to apply common sense where the use of other features of these devices may be applied. For example, it would be quite appropriate to listen to music through headphones while on the pool deck or at the range. It is also permissible to enter an upcoming meeting or tee time into the calendar feature of a Smartphone.
